A papa tomato and a baby tomato were walking down the street.
The baby tomato started falling behind.
Papa's got places to be, so he turns and said to junior, "Hurry up, kiddo."
Some minutes pass, and the baby tomato lagged even further behind.
Growing irritated, papa looks back again and shouted, "Hustle it, son!"
The pair had not gone more than ten paces when the tiny tomato, tired already from the day's trek, slowed again.
Papa, now having missed his important board meeting, and, subsequently, the following happy hour, turned in a red rage.
He stamped down with his heavy foot , mashing his son to a pulpy mess, and screamed,
"KETCHUP!"
So yeah, put differently I've been busy and owe ya'll an update.
Get ready for a barrage.
And... SCROLL!
These first four are an excerpt from an assignment completed this past monday after an all-night to sunrise comic crank. The story takes place in the static scene of girls' bathroom mirrors:

Next, the first two pages from a photo-amalgam comic I'm doing for a James Kochalka guest lesson:

Lastly, some pictures from our trip today to the Montshire Science Museum:
My fingers in fog

Some bugs, soon to appear in a new comic assignment

And our own mentor, Spider Bissette, graciously lugging coats

Cheers!

Mirror Comic

Hi. I know... it's been ages.
We have a new roommate here at the firehouse. Brian, Elizabeth's brother, moved in a week ago.
He's writing and playing music in his room.
A Palomaric act:

A late night shove by our superfeline houseguest, Mr. Palomar, sent Newton the Gerbil's cage to the floor.
The heavy crash announced the act to me, late, late at night. (I was watching One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.)
Cleanup ensued.
Newton must've been cushioned in his bedding at impact, for he was fine and exploring the floor freely.
He was scooped up temporarily:

While I constructed an interim home:

He now has a new ten gallon tank. All's well.
In other news, I'm spending the whole rest of tonight drawing a highschool bathroom mirror comic. It'll be short conversational exchanges between two girls, reflected.
Here's a bit of my character development:

Okay. Wish me luck.

Ahh. Late again here at the Firehouse:

Yes! That's our apartment!! Sassy, no?
And as for cats:

And, snap!
I've got to get back
to get clothes folded
And me to bed!
(warping my sleep schedule)

Oh, and, our new houseguest:

After hours of memserizing repetitive actions,
I put together a nice batch of minis to send with Robyn
to the Boston Zine Fair!
These are alternate covers to the same mini comic,
"Get Some Sleep" for which the first printing occured in the fall of 2005.

It begins like this:

This next mini is brand new, produced entirely on the 16th and 17th of March, 2006!

It starts thusly:

If you'd like, visit the Zine Fair on Sunday, March 19 to purchase copies.
Otherwise, contact me at alevraj@gmail.com.
Woo, enough self promotion.
Cheers,
-J.

A late night at CCS lab finds me blogging...
I'm finishing printing the cover to our anthology project.
Its front looks like this:

(It glows in the dark!)
Also, a quick recap, image heavy, of our weekend in montreal:

At Drawn and Quarterly's office, Chris Ware's abashed superhero hides his face from a view through steamy windows.

The bathroom doors In D&Q's beautiful, industrial-chic building.

My friends and travel-buddies, Josie and Elizabeth, hold a potential lunch flatloaf.
(We ended up eating wraps, grapes and dark chocolate in a window-foggied Jetta.)

E and I stayed overnight at a less-than-satisfactory B&B. We found this green scene in an AMC multiplex arena on our walk home from a fine Thai dinner.
And from the home front:

Our housemate Totoro, in an illicit pin-up pose!
Cheers,
-JFJ.

Okay.. Here it is: the result of my labor, in sequential order!
This is a comic about the supposed supernaturality
of Emily's Bridge in Stowe, Vermont.
I've written and drawn it for an anthology project at CCS.
Our team is compiling stories of a morbid and deathly nature.
It was done in Corel Painter IX.

Hi everybody!
My lovely girlfriend

(pictured here with a couch blending Totoro)
Influenced me to atone for misleading the interweb public:
I wasn't really listening to Dustin and the Furniture when I last blogged!
I don't remember what I was listening to.
But as an apology, here's a picture of Dustin.

He played here at the Firehouse last Sunday.
He does nice folky, self reflective, meditational, motivational music.
Uncle Grandpa organized the event.
Thanks, U.G.!!
Okay.
Goodnight!
